Literature Text

Even the stars are dark tonight,
Regrets inside me begin to ignite.
The wind begs me not to go,
But the wind only knows of a love long ago.

Black waters stir beneath me,
They hold the cold promise of eternity.
Slow, nervous breaths escape my lips,
As I slowly begin to strip.

I want to die by the way of birth,
Bare and raw, I'm going back to ash and earth.
The bridge is silent; the town seems dead,
I step onto the rail, my transparent wings spread.

I want so badly to be covered in red,
But I hear a resounding drum in my head.
My heart reminds me that I'm still living;
That another chance to me, God is giving.

God's place my feet back upon the ground,
Angels' fingers point me eastboud.
My hands are shaking and my soul is numb;
Inside my breast, I can still hear that resounding drum.
